If you’re looking at this and wondering what remote monitoring to look at before you buy a pellet grill.
Then, maybe you should just think about getting a smoker that has remote monitoring locally or over your Wi-Fi router. I summarized and wrote about a list of Wi-Fi pellet grills.
On the buyer’s guide, I put together which are the pellet grills I consider the best around, it also highlights which are wifi built in – here is the link to the post.
I will cover what I know about monitoring from around the house or monitoring fully remotely via app.
Remote Wifi Go Shopping Monitoring
Connected to Wifi Router, then monitor anywhere you have internet access!
InkBird Remote Wifi Monitoring
There will be some setup, but I know of Inkbird, and they have been doing controller and monitoring stuff for quite some time.
This gadget has four probes and once set up will give you a phone display of what is going on in the grill.
From about 3 mins 40 seconds, you can see how the setup works, firstly to your phone. Then, connect the device/probes to wifi router via phone
For local Remote Monitoring of the Pellet Grill
(ie. Phone or Display straight to the Pellet Grill)
Nutri Chef Smart Bluetooth BBQ Grill Thermometer
- Get the 2 probes, but can come with one.
- 100′ range (with no walls)
- Add probes – up to 6
You get a display but also can hook it up to your phone. Which is nice, I know you probably will have 1 to 2 probes on the pellet grill. But a gadget like this is nice as a double-checker too.
This is awesome, you can set up and get a direct connection. Wifi has a longer range. But unless it’s built into your grill, I would stay away from the ‘add-on’ wifis, and they are pretty expensive too. These are like $40-$60 bucks which is pretty reasonable.
